The Loreto Home of Compassion has one designated bed for respite care.

Respite Care is a service provided to support carers who might need a break from the often arduous task of providing full-time care to a family member or who may need time away to meet their own health or medical needs.

To be eligible, the person requiring care in the facility must first be assessed by a member of the Aged Care Assessment Team.

Referrals may be made by a GP, a carer or other community member.

The Commonwealth Government allows respite care for up to 63 days a year.

The cost is the same as for a permanent nursing home resident, however, due to the high demand, it is wise to book well in advance.
